Identifying a Colour Scheme for your Website

On the internet, colour is everything. Colour is an extremely important part of a site’s design. Unlike 10 years ago, most websites today choose a certain colour or group of colours and stick with it. A colour scheme can either be a single colour that you use in many aspects of your website, or a pallet of colours that your website sticks to.

For example, if your website or blog focused on fashion coverage, a very suitable colour to use consistently throughout your website would be pink or purple. Sometimes, a colour decision can be quite easy, say if you were making a website for your football team, you would most likely follow the colours of your football team, which would be the safest option.

However, there often comes a time when choosing a colour for your website isn’t quite as strikingly obvious. If you were designing your own blog, it isn’t obvious at first what colour you should be using throughout. In this case, I would absolutely recommend that you choose a colour that you like. After all, a personal blog is focused upon expressing you and what you enjoy, so using a favourite colour is the best option.

However, if you should find yourself in doubt when choosing a colour scheme. The best option is too stick with whites and blacks, use a simple light background with black stand out features. Chances are, a colour scheme of this nature will stand out to everyone and catch every user’s attention.

Furthermore, it’s a great idea to incorporate your chosen colour or pallet of colours into your website’s logo. If you’re using a simple text logo, this is relatively simple. However, if you intend to use a single or number of images, a good idea is to seek out images that fit your colour scheme.

Identifying a successful colour scheme for your website in this day and age is extremely important, we are at a time when the design of a website is critically important. Having a colour scheme that is consistent and outstanding will most likely further engage your users and expand your user base.
